Read my interview with the lovely New Zealand blogger, Lena – her blog ‘Lena Talks Beauty’ is all things make up, hair and nail related. She gives us a small insight into her blogging life as well as future goals for her life. Remember to hop on over to her blog and check out her social media accounts for the latest and greatest in beauty.
I love your blog – it’s jam packed with beauty goodies! How do you go about researching for your beauty products to post on your blog?
Inspiration can strike in all sorts of ways, whether it’s from a question someone asks me, something I get sent to review, or something I’ve read.
How do you get motivated and committed to post new blogging content?
I’ve always been very opinionated, so I’m always full of ideas. It’s having the time to produce the content that I struggle with the most.
Give me a typical day in the life of Lena!
I work as a receptionist for radiology clinic so I’m busy with that 9-5. On my breaks I’m always checking my Instagram and replying to blogging related emails. In the evening I go to the gym, work on my blog, and sometimes just collapse on the couch.
How do you prioritise and balance your life between socialising, blogging and your day job?
It can be hard at times, and it’s blogging that tends to slip when something has to give. I have quite a few blogger friends though so I can combine socialising with blogging collaborations sometimes.
Where do you see your life going in the next 5 years? What are your goals you’re hoping to achieve in your blogging life?
Gosh I’ll be 30 then! I have no idea where I’ll be by then, hopefully still blogging but anything could happen. Maybe I’ll have transitioned into mum blogging haha.
If you could only choose 1 beauty product to use for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The sensible part of me says sunscreen, but the other part of me says a good red lipstick.
I read that you’re a bit of a reality TV fan! What is your favourite reality TV show?
That’s like asking what my favourite child is! Lately I have been loving Millionaire Matchmaker.
What is your skincare routine before you go to bed?
It changes depending on what I’m reviewing, but the typical pattern is Trilogy Makeup Be Gone Cleansing Balm, Paula’s Choice AHA liquid, and Antipodes night cream.
Are there any beauty brands that you’re dying to use that New Zealand may not offer?
I would love for Kat Von D to be available here.
Finally, any advice for beauty lovers wanting to start a blog?
There’s no time like the present. If you have a passion for beauty and writing about it, just get started.
