Shade: 7.5 – Medium dark with subtle pink undertones
Price: $65 Mecca
I am such a foundation fanatic that when I hear about a new one on the market, I get so excited and instantly look up Youtube demos and reviews. If you didn’t know already, Australia is quite slow when it comes to stocking new beauty products – so while the rest of the world enjoyed the Urban Decay All-Nighter liquid foundation, us Aussies sat back and waited. I bought mine from a Mecca store for $65 (a little steep but this is Australia after all). I was curious to see if it would top my all time favourite foundation – Too Faced Born This Way.
I purchased the foundation in shade 7.5 which sounds dark but it was actually the tiniest bit light for my skin – not to worry though, there’s nothing a bit of bronzer and contour can’t fix! Initially, the foundation didn’t apply as nicely as I thought it would – I tried with an oval dense brush then later patted it all in with a beauty sponge. It was definitely a matte finish with medium-full coverage which I believe is buildable. I went ahead and applied the rest of my make up to let the foundation oxidise and after about 10 minutes, it looked really impressive.
The All Nighter foundation is completely matte, therefore if you already have dry skin, you should either lather up in a really good moisturiser or give this one a miss as it can look patchy and bring out those dry spots on your skin. This foundation lasted a good 8 hours on me which is all I need really, however I haven’t given it the ‘all night’ test yet! In comparison to my all time star, Urban Decay All Nighter, unfortunately does not surpass the Born This Way, simply because it does leave the face looking a tad bit flat. If you’re willing to go the extra mile in contouring, applying blush and highlight a bit more intensely, it’d be great! However there’s only so much I can do in the 20-30 minutes I have to get ready in the morning!
