Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder Review

Hey guys, I’m back from my short 2 week holiday and am absolutely missing that beautiful Vietnam tropical weather! To add to my misery, Sydney has been too cold for life. But my whinging aside, I want to talk about my new favourite brow product of all time! Yes, all time. COTY PR generously sent me the new Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in the shade Dark Brown – the range comes in 4 shades: Blonde, Medium Brown, Dark Brown and Black.

Packaging and Price

When I first received the product,  I thought it would be a brow gel or something with a mascara-like wand that you can brush through your brows. The packaging is simple, sleek and conveniently fits into a small clutch/coin purse. The shape of the product is like a cone which makes holding the product easy – it fits nicely in my hand.

The Rimmel Brow Shake retails for $14.95 (Priceline) which is considered average for a drug store brow product. Since receiving the product about 3ish weeks ago, I’ve been using it every single day (even when I was in Vietnam!). I feel the product is starting to run out but I can get another 2 weeks out of it I think.

At first, the wand looked intimidating. I had to think twice before applying it! It’s shaped like a rectangular sponge that’s perfect for big and bold brows. For anyone who is after a more natural application, I suggest applying it extremely subtly and blending out with a spoolie. However I have naturally dark brows and love the bold look so I don’t mind rocking this look on the daily.

Applying the product is as simple as just applying it! You really can’t be too meticulous and perfect with it. My best tip for applying it is start in the middle where your brows are the thickest – this way you can distribute the powder out towards the end and create the bold finish. I then use a spoolie to blend it out so the front is filled but not too dark. The soft sponge on the applicator does a really good job of holding the powder – one shake will fill in 1 brow for me. Be warned that the pigmentation is quite strong so you really want to have a light hand with this one. Another thing that you’ll notice is when you apply the product at first, there may be some fall out so it would help to tap off any excess before placing it on your eyebrow.

Like I said, I’ve been wearing this product almost every single day for the past 3ish weeks. When I come home and prepare to take off my makeup, I’m happy to say that my brows are in full tact! Hooray! BUT, if you have oily skin and you happen to touch or rub your brows during the day, some product may come off. This has happened to me before however nothing too damaging (phew!). I’m so impressed with the wear of this product and I trust my brows 100% with it – bold statement right here!

I’m actually going to purchase a second one today as I just lightened my hair colour! Have you guys used the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder?! Let me know how you went in the comments below!

  1. I find that my brows are thick and dark naturally, if I use these types of doe foot brow applicators then I tend to look a little crazy! Haha, glad it is working for you though Xx
