Skincare Brand Lowdown – Dermalogica

Hi guys – it has been a real hot minute since I last posted! This new job really has me working hard! However, I’ll try and post over the weekend and schedule some good content for you all. I have a bunch of new products I’ve been trying out and cannot wait to share them with you. But first up on the chopping board is the much loved skincare brand, Dermalogica. Dermalogica’s extensive product range includes collections that target any and all skin problems that you may face. From teenage hormonal issues to ageing skin – you’ll be able to find something for everyone.

FacialCo – online beauty stop shop has generously provided me with 3 Dermalogica products that I was super excited to try. I have trialled all 3 products for a good 2 weeks and can’t wait to share my thoughts!

Products Tried:

  • Skin Smoothing Cream
  • Daily Microfoliant
  • Special Cleansing Gel

Skin Smoothing Cream

100ml $67.60 (24/07/17)

First up is an everyday skin smoothing cream. I decided to use this as directed on the tube which requires you to apply the cream whilst the face is slightly damp. I applied it on damp skin at night time, then applied it like a normal moisturiser during the day before foundation/make up. The cream consistency was quite thick which meant it would be a hydrating product. Although my skin is combination/oily, I loved using this during winter. It applied to the skin nicely and absorbed really well as well. I felt it made the skin feel extremely smooth and the most important thing is that it allowed me to apply foundation seamlessly.

The Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream includes key-nutrients as well as Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidant Grape Seed and essential oils that help balance the skin condition. I wore this moisturiser for at least 10+ hours everyday and it did not make my skin oily by the end of the day. This is an all-round well balanced moisturiser and I really enjoyed using it. I think it is perfect for me during winter, however when summer comes, I’ll only use it at night time to avoid excess oil production during the day. Definitely give this one a go – I really liked it!

Daily Microfoliant

74g $64 (24/07/17)

The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant was the most interesting skincare product I had ever come across. It comes in a cylindrical bottle with twist off lid. Inside are two small cut outs that distribute a powder-like product in small amounts. The directions were to disperse half a teaspoon of product to very wet hands and massage into face for a minute then rinse off. I thought the way to use it was very bizarre however understood that to receive the full effects of the product, we needed to activate it with water and use immediately as opposed to a normal exfoliate that we’re used to.

The only one thing I disliked about the product was the smell – I can’t even describe it if I tried however it didn’t stink. It was just a little off putting at first – kind of like baby’s milk but not the good smelling kind…anyways! The reason I loved using this product and will happily stock up is it makes the skin feel clean however did not strip any oils or make it feel dry. With other exfoliators, I feel it leaves the skin feeling extremely tight and dried out however this felt as though it fed moisture and hydration into my skin and really made it feel smooth and clean.

Special Cleansing Gel

500ml $64.80 (02/08/17)

Dermalogica’s Special Cleansing Gel is soap-free and targets sensitive skin. I don’t have sensitive skin however for the purpose of trialling and reviewing, I decided to try it out. It has a lovely fresh and clean scent that is infused with mint and lavender (these scents are quite subtle). When dispersed into the hand, it is a gel and when massage into the face it lathers up into a nice foam. I felt this was a good cleanser for my skin and did it’s job of cleaning my makeup, it also compliments the moisturiser extremely well.

These products were generously sent to me for trial and possible review however my opinions are 100% honest and were not compromised or edited.
